get it for less

Any of my readers that are in Germany and have been thinking about getting HydraQuench Lotion SPF15 (50ml) for 40Euros (like I was thinking of doing) regain your sanity and go to your nearest Bundikowsky store and pick up Balea Beauty Effect Tagesfluid SPF15 (50ml) for 6Euros. It still contains Hyaluronic acid (Hyaluronsäure in German) but if your skin reacts to it you won't feel bad at wasting all that money. It also still has SPF15 but they also do have 6 other skin products in the line that contain Hyaluronic acid for 6Euros and under.

Friday: after German class we caught the train to Berlin, had a nice walk around near our hostel (managed to get a private room for the weekend because they double booked our dorm room for the same price), went to see the Berlin Fernsehturm and my boyfriend bought a chocolate covered chilly from the Easter market

Saturday: went to see the Sony center, went on the New Europe Berlin tour, saw all the major sites (the holocaust memorial was amazing; simple yet so powerful), did some clothes shopping (only bought 2 singlet tops, a pair of sneakers and a new pair of sunglasses), went on a pub crawl with a lot of American collage students and ended up at Matrix club dancing like a crazy person
Sunday: went to Museum island, went to the Pergamon museum to see the Ishtar gate, went to the German History Museum (only 6Euros and has so much stuff that I will have to go back again when I next go back, if you are going to Berlin see this museum), did my German homework in the hostel bar before heading back to Hamburg on the train. A very busy weekend but so rewarding and will be going again and again.

DOM fun

Last weekend I went to the Hamburg DOM that happens 4 times a year. It was a grate afternoon of german carnival food and my 1st time on a roller coaster. My boyfriend made a deal with me that if I didn't find it fun I could punch him for making me go on it (a fair exchange). I was very scared to begin with and screamed the whole time but after the adrenalin kicked in I was having fun. The worst part was the train ride home as I think my ears hadn't equalized and made me have a little motion sick. I can't weight till summer when it comes back to town and I can do it all over again.

Hot mulled wine on a could wet day. very yummy. The fast loops of the roller coaster after the wine and carnival food was not the best idea .

every type of fruit dipped in any flavored chocolat or covered in hard toffee (toffee covered grapes are very yummy)

my syringe pen. winnings from the slot machine. best 60cents I ever spent.

Samstag

jumper, jeggings, ballet flats - h&m, singlet top - dotti, sunglasses - wayfarers bought while in Berlin

I'm back after a very busy April. An update on Hamburg is that we found a new apartment the day after our other lease ran out meaning that we had to spend only one night at the hostel (thank god) and I have spent the past month doing my A1 intensive German course and frying my brain with its grammar and pronunciation. I did go to Berlin a few weeks ago for a weekend away (post still to come) to relax and being  only 2hrs away by train I am definitely going to plan some more time there. I only just got a new power cord for my net book so I can start blogging again (dam you hp for not conforming to a universal power plug size, that's 30Euro's of power pack that needs to be returned) and uploading outfit photos a little more interesting than jeans, top and cardigan that I was wearing for going to class in (8am out the door and 10C limits your choice for clothing options).

My little herb garden on the kitchen windowsill ( putting sring onions/scallions in water works to re-grow the tops back and stops them from stinking out the whole kitchen)

Today it is finally looking like spring (east Germany is 27-30C) with Hamburg being 16C outside and SUNNY after weeks of rain. I have been lusting after summer clothes and hope that the heat will come in May so that I can finally wear shorts and spring dresses without tights (I bought a playsuit from H&M trying to will the weather to change so that I can wear it) and going to get myself an early birthday present of some sandals next week that have finally come into store. I am also very happy to be planning a summer holiday in July to go to the Pohoda Festival in Slovakia (tickets have been purchaser and flights booked) so I am madly looking at camping gear to take (my 1st outdoor camping music festival) and eyeing up my bikini for the July weather.
My boyfriend enjoying the sunshine sitting on the windowsill in our new apartment in Hamburg.
P.S. going to Rostock on Monday for the day so will have photos from that and then to Copenhagen for the next weekend. So many trips.

Spring Essentials

Spring Essentials

I am wishing that some nice spring weather will return to Hamburg soon so I can start wearing some spring clothes (it has been about 4C and snow for the past week). I love being able to go outside in a nice dress/short/skirt without having to wear tights and only needing a light cardigan thrown over to stave off any wind chill. I miss not having to wear 3 tops with jeans, a scarf, hat and coat just to go to the supermarket. It better come soon or a trip to Split in Croatia might be in order.
